Prologue . . .

This Twitterive is inspired by the feeling of accomplishment and/or the feeling of resentment. It takes place at a track meet at Ursinus College, which I pulled from my tweets. We follow a young college student through her journal entries, pictures and lists who strives to make her way to Nationals for the long jump... or so we think.

Woke up about an hour ago... if you can say I slept. The make-shift bed on the floor of his apartment felt like I was sleeping on a pile of rocks. The cracked window and blowing of the fan made the room an icebox. I forgot my extra fleece blanket in the car last night. As I was tossing and turning, he was sleeping like a baby.

We just got in the car to make our way to Ursinus' Track Meet. It's only an hour and a half away from school. Not too shabby. I am happy he's driving with me. This will be his first meet since last April, before the last time I went to Nationals.

I jump at 10:00 AM. In a few minutes I will eat my Raspberry Greek Yogurt and my Cinnamon Nature Valley bar. I have to get something in my stomach even though I'm not even hungry. When we get into College Park I have to remember to stop at Wawa to buy myself some water.

The weather today is miserable. Hope that is not a bad sign, today is the day I NEED to qualify for Nationals. We are driving over the Ben Franklin Bridge right now and I cant even see the skyline because the fog is so thick. The mist of the car's tires in front of us is creating a rough commute. Hope we get there with no problems. This GPS is usually accurate.

We got here about an hour ago. The sound of my playlist begins to get me pumped as I warm up. I jog about a half a mile around the track to get the blood flowing, the bitter coldness from the storm days before lingers inside the track. After my jog I begin my static and elastic stretches coach told me to do. The beat of "Empire State of Mind" gradually increases creating a steady movement of my legs as I begin my bicycle kicks. One ... Two ... Three... Four....

About fifteen minutes later I am beginning to feel warm. My mark is set and I do some run throws to make sure I wont foul. Coach said I looked good. Good, I can relax for twenty minutes before we begin. I put on my headphones, lie down on my warm fleece blanket and drown out the noise surrounding me.

I did it!!!!!! I qualified for Nationals baby!!!! Oh yeah... and I won the meet! I will be headed for Ohio in March! I finally made it! All my hard work finally paid it off! The days are finally looking up.

Dear Diary,

Today was another bad day... I was late for my training session with Kyle AGAIN! He was so mad at me. He thinks I don't want to lose the weight but I really do! The only bright side to being late to my training sessions is the punishment Kyle puts me through....my body is aching. It has only been week 3 of this new healthy lifestyle and I am struggling. Everyone says it will get easier. I hope they are right....
